The song talks about a girl who adorns and dresses up in order to go to the square of the village and to impress the boys and get married. She likes one of the guys, who looks at her, and she lets him steal her nosegay.

Additional Information:
In folk traditions, the role of the nosegay, during the working bee, has the meaning of a love mediator and a sign of affection, i.e. the role is two-sided. The first banters among the boys and girls begin with the nosegay - grabbing the nosegay by a boy - it is a sign of affection; and giving the nosegay to a boy expresses consent, sharing love.
